Warm up Chieng Ken

Chieng Ken 3 is a kindergarten and primary school located between 2 hamlets Thi and Phung of Chieng Ken village. The majority of the population is Tay, Mon and Dao people. Extremely fragmented terrain, steep slopes, small river basins with flash floods in the rainy season, especially the consequences from mining activities of private companies all affect the travel and agricultural production of local people in the area. Although the infrastructure of the school has been invested by the state (mainly in the main building), but due to the poor life of the people, there are still many poor households, it is hard to maintain attendance of the children, especially in the harsh winter of the highlands.

With the meaning of social activities and the desire to bring the underprivileged children in 2 hamlets Thi, Phung of Chieng Ken village a winter filled with the warm love together with the care to help children to overcome the difficulties to go to school, BSC’s Youth Union organized the program "Warm up Chieng Ken" on the two days of 24 and 25/1/2015.

In two days, the Youth Union donated 180 gifts to support Chieng Ken 3 preschoolers and primary school students, including warm blankets for semi-boarding students, and study materials, with total value up to VND 40 million.

In addition, the BSC Youth Union donated to the No. 4 Van Ban High school 20 bicycles, enabling high school students to travel long distances to school. Because this is a school located in the center of Khanh Yen Ha Commune, students from 5 communes: Chieng Ken, Khanh Ha, Liem Phu, Nam Tha and Khanh Yen Trung - At the district of Van Ban - Lao Cai. The school has 268 students and the distance from home to school is over 5km and there are needs for transportation to motivate the children to attend class.
